Born in Poland during the collapse of the Soviet-imposed government, Elżbieta Dejna – “Elle” as she is now known in America – is flown out of the hardship to live with her mother’s Chicago relatives.Family resentments on both sides of the ocean, however, put Elle’s future happiness at stake.
Elle Dejna's interior architecture career is stalled in her American family's firm when she meets John Wainwright, a local business owner who is deeply in debt to his deceased wife’s brother.
The combination of Elle’s desire to create a more satisfying professional life - and John’s urgent need to save his business causes them to find, want, and need each other.
Struggling to establish her own professional destiny, Elle returns to Poland – where she hopes to succeed with her business and translation skills. John follows her – as does his money-swindling, former brother-in-law.
In a world where people and countries depend on each other for survival - much less achievement and love - Elle is tested by others’ lack of faith in her, international economics, financial threats, and criminal forces.
How can she evolve into the person she wants to be and enjoy a passionate, fulfilling life with the man of her destiny?
