The “Old Pot By The River” is filled daily by the river sprites. They fill the ancient vessel with blue water that they compel to be bluer - point their fingers to the middle of the swirling pool and smooth it to rest with sweet dreams.
I discovered the pot one morning before the sprites arrived. It was dirty brown with cracks. It looked tired and without purpose – so, I continued on my way looking for inspiration elsewhere.
I should have stayed – at least, to see the river sprites. Passing by the pot upon my return, I saw instead the river flowing blue beside it. The pot sat proud - to look clean and new.
Lesson learned: River sprites are worth waiting for.
