"Lingering Memory" began with a black and white photograph taken by my granddaughter, Greer. There are many reasons why artistic collaborations with family members increases the value of the work to me. Listed high on the list is the opportunity to see the world through the eyes of someone I love.
When Greer gave her black and white photograph to me with several others, I first looked at is as a charmed grandmother would. Then, I looked at it as a companion artist and learned that the simple, straightforward composition of it made it admirable.
She intended, however, for me to do something with it. To show her what a computer can do, I offered her 3 versions of her photo:
1) a formatted, enhanced version of her black and white;
2) the gently bronzed version shown in this post; and
3) a version with painted treatment reminiscent of the Impressionist Period.
She preferred the bronzed version - because she liked the color.
As collaborators, we envision this artwork to warm the environment in which it's placed - and the hearts of those who view it.
