Tribute To Trajan
From the 1st Century BCE to the 1st Century CE, ribbed bowls were luxury ware. Eastern Mediterranean workshops flourished – producing works for the new Roman market, including Syrian and Palestine.
Bob Deever (brother) created “Tribute To Trajan” – and it is a masterpiece of reimagining ancient style and segmented turning.
• NOTE: Trajan, a soldier-emperor, was known for his philanthropic rule over the greatest military expansion in Roman history.
Composed with 164 pieces of black walnut, curly maple and purple heart, this woodwork is 8 inches tall and 9 inches wide at the top.
